Yerevan, May 23, 2026. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan expressed hope for a constructive resolution of the issues related to the import of Armenian goods into the Russian Federation. According to him, such difficulties are not unprecedented, and Yerevan is ready to engage in dialogue with its Russian partners in order to find mutually acceptable solutions.

 The situation has escalated in recent days, as Russian regulatory authorities have imposed several restrictions on the import of Armenian products. So, on May 20, the Rosselkhoznadzor announced the introduction of temporary restrictions on the import of flowers from Armenia, which will take effect on May 22, 2026.

Next, on May 22, Rospotrebnadzor suspended the import and turnover in Russia of all shipments of the popular Armenian mineral water Jermuk. The reason for this decision was the revealed violations of mandatory requirements.

No sooner had the wave about mineral water subsided, as on May 23, Rospotrebnadzor announced a new series of restrictions. This time, it was alcohol products that came under attack: the sale of products produced by Armenian companies Vedi-Alco CJSC, Abovian Brandy Factory LLC, and Shahnazaryan Wine and Brandy House LLC was suspended. This decision was also based on violations of mandatory requirements.

 In this situation, Minister Mirzoyan emphasized the Armenian side's readiness for an open and constructive discussion of all the issues that have arisen. "We have met with similar situations before, and I am confident that we will be able to find a solution that will meet the interests of both sides," the Armenian Foreign Minister said.

These events are causing concern in Armenia, given the significant share of the Russian side in the republic's foreign trade. The business community and the authorities of the country are making efforts to minimize the negative consequences and restore unhindered access of Armenian goods to the Russian market. It is expected that active negotiations between the relevant departments of both countries will begin in the near future.
